Education and the Internet

The Internet is a huge source of information. Everything you want to know about, you can find it in the Internet. Not so many years ago, if you wanted to expand your knowledge, you had to go to a library, search for a book and, if you were lucky, you would find one of your interest.

Nowadays, if you want to know something, you just have to type it in the browser and immediately you will obtain results about your search.

The Internet is a very powerful tool but it can be dangerous: not everything that you can find in the Internet is true and, by downloading files and programs from an unknown source, your computer can become infected by viruses and other types of malware.

The Internet can be dangerous, yes, but if you use it carefully and in a sensible way, it can be very helpful to you.

The internet can not only be used for searching information, but for learning and practising your knowledge too. There are plenty of courses in the Internet about several disciplines like languages, maths, geography, biology… and some of them are free. You can also use the Internet to communicate faster with your teacher and classmates to solve your doubts. There are some platforms in the Internet specifically designed for didactic use that can be a good support for your school classes.

The Internet, along with books, is the great adversary of misinformation for many people. Nowadays, if you don’t know something, it is because you haven’t searched for it.

All in all, it’s important to think about the Internet as a very productive additional way of learning, not as a substitute for schools. I’m not talking about being a self-taught person. I think the Internet and the school are very powerful by their own, but they are even more powerful when you combine them both together.

  2. As time passes by, at schools, ads and more sorts of informative sources, we are every time more warned about the danger that the Internet can cause when using it in an improper way. Even though, I agree with the writter when they said that it has a good side and a very positive function, for example, when using the books and the Internet as an academic material at the same time as they are much more helpful than only one of these two by theirown. On the other hand, something that really caught my mind when reading the post, was he first picture.
In my opinion, it perfectly reflects the risks that a person may take when using a computer in a "wrong way". By this, I would like to say that if someone tries to hack any sort of program with a primary knowldge about it, the response from the hacked one may be a direct and worse response.

  3. I think that it can be good to join Internet and schools because you could do the class more dynamic and funny some times. But also it is not good because if the children are also iin schools with Internet they won't disconnect of it. It is a difficult decision in both parts.

  6. The Internet can be very useful in a school, but unfortunately, it is not very used.
Some teachers use it as an excuse to send more homework and projects, of course, but in class they aren't so excited about using it: they prefer teaching with a book and a pen.
As the writter of this post has said, there are lots of platforms which could help the students to understand the lessons better, but the teachers refuse to use them.
It is obvious that the Internet is more used than some years ago, but there are still thousands of ways it could be included in schools, and I think it will be more enjoyable.
I hope it will be soon an important part of lessons!

    1. I think you made such as a strong point in your second paragraph, when you talked about tasks and projects that students are asked about, but at the end they are ordered to carry out them at home... something which actually doesn't makes sense if they don't use electronic and technological devices (well in this case the Internet) inside the classrooms... In my opinion, the point is definitely to work everywhere, both inside and outside the classrooms.

  7. I totally agree with the thing of joining the school and the internet because I think it is a very good way to learn things that with the teacher only will be more difficult and using this source helps the teachers to explain and the students to understand.

  8. I think that nowdays we use a lot the internet and especially looking for information for tasks sended in schools. I think that join the internet and school is a great idea but ,not only because it can be very efficient, also because it would be great if in schools we were taught to look for reliable information,to find good information and contrasted since, many times we do not search this information in constrated webs and that information can not be true.

  9. Enthusiastic beginning is very common in every sector when anyone enters into a new world. But it is very hard to keep such enthusiasm for a long time after huddles come out from invited sources. Read this blog and know more about this topic.

  10. I totally agree with you; now, we have a lot of resources to learn, solve our doubts, and find information. I think we don't have any type of excuse if we really want to learn. If new technologies are used in a sensible and correct way, they'll contribute to our education and formation in a very positive way.

    1. I partially agree with you but I think that learning is not only based on looking for information, that is what internet can generally provide us, but also in other disciplines and abilities ...

  12. I agree with the person who wrote this post. When internet was discovered, it seemed to be a very useful and safe tool for improving our lives. However, nowadays, due to the unresponsible use of it, it is becoming very dangerous and unsafe. I think that we have to stop looking at our phone and computer screens and watch what we have in front of us.
