Today we are going to talk about a present-day topic that
has created a lot of controversy among the population: being vegetarian or not.
To have a better point of view, we made an interview to a real vegetarian
person. She has been vegetarian since 2017 and although she says that it is
very difficult to eat things without meat, she also tries to use products that
haven’t been tested in animals like for example cosmetics.
To begin with, we asked her the cons of being vegetarian. She
told us that the main disadvantage is that you have to be very careful with the
diet that you follow, as it has to be balanced avoiding a possible lack of
proteins and nutrients that might cause health problems. Another important
disadvantage according to what she said is that if you live in such a small
city as Soria, there aren’t as many resources as in other cities like Madrid.
The last disadvantage is that nowadays there aren´t too many restaurants with
vegetarian options and, as a result, if you want to eat in a restaurant, you
have to be very careful with the things you eat.
After talking about the cons, we asked her about the pros of
being vegetarian. First, she told us that as you have to maintain a balanced
diet, then you will have less cholesterol and health problems. In addition to
this, you will maintain a healthy diet, obtaining the same amount of proteins
like the rest of the people, without injuring other living things. Besides, she
told us that, if everybody ate a vegetarian diet, almost all the world
population could be fed up. To finish with the pros of being vegetarian, she cleared
up that the vegetarian products aren’t as expensive as people think. For
example, vegetables and fruits are cheaper than meat and fish.
We have talked about the main pros and cons, but many people
might be wondering why people decide to become vegetarian. Our interviewee told
us that she started to think about the overproduction of meat in the
industries, the bad living conditions that animals have in those industries and
the cruelty forms that are used to kill them, and finally she decided to help
those living beings by stopping eating meat. She also told us that during all
the time that she has been vegetarian, she has seen that it is possible to eat
well without making animals suffer.
The final conclusion that we have obtained is that, for some
people, you cannot consider yourself an animal lover if you eat meat, because
although you can have a pet and take care of it, you are causing the death of
many animals as you eat their meat. She told us that she would advise other
people to start a vegetarian life-style because, even though it is very
difficult, then you will feel better by knowing that you have saved lives.

I think sometimes we consider the vegetarian diet as a bad one and I guess it's because we actually don't keep know about nor keep in mind the consequences that abusing of meat or any products with an animal origin can have.
ReplyDeleteAs a radical change would feel absolutely hard, I'd would love to try during a specific period of time to carry on a vegetarian diet and then wait and see what it could happen. I'm pretty sure that it would have a lot of benefits and it would make me feel much better both corporally and morally
I hope you Will try to do that diet so that you Will stop eating meat. I Will be waiting for knowing if you achieved your objective!
DeleteI'm pretty sure I won't have any problems with stopping eating meat buttt when it comes to fish... it's just hard. Again, maybe trying it step by step can be more useful and less """"painful"""""
DeleteI really love vegetales and I think they are so important for our diet. I have planned yo become vegetarian because of the fact that I love animals and It is not a problem for me to eat only vegetables, I also think this type of diet is healthier than any other. It is also proved that a vegetarian diet contains the same vitamins and proteins that a normal one.
ReplyDeleteThat's true! a vegetarian diet is as healthy or may be more than a normal diet that includes meat. It's better having pets than eating them.
DeleteAs I am the one who wrote the post, I don't have to say too much. The point is that we have to start thinking on the lives of other living things ad not just in ours. It is very important to stop the overproduction of meat and products tested on animals so that that cruelty forms used with them Will disappear.
ReplyDeleteGood point and great post George!! I feel proud of people thinking this way đ
DeleteGeorge I really like your post !!
DeleteAnd I will remind you this points of view that you had shown to as when I see you eating a ham sandwich

I’ve been wondering about the fact of becoming vegetarian this last year, actually I eat much less meat and products which become from animals than last year and I’m proud of me. I think you couldn’t have explained better all what vegetarians/vegans feel, more here in Spain that it isn't as accepted as in other countries as in the UN or in Germany.
DeleteI personally have met much more Spanish people knowing about the vegetarian diet as well as taking it as a part of their lives than international people doing the same. I guess it's because of the Mediterranean diet that itself includes a lot of vegetables and fruits therefore it doesn't sound weird to keep and carry on a diet with only those meals.
DeleteAnd well actually the point of this message is saying that I share the same experience as you Izana, Ive realised that I haven't eaten as much meat as I'd have done the past years but I'm still partially omnivore hehehe
This is so right, because a vegetarian it's not just fruits and vegetables, you have much more foods such as pasta or rice.
ReplyDeletealso I think that the conditions in which this animals are breed are inhuman and they are also lives

I am agree with most of the things you say but I think that it is an unthinkable thing to become everybody vegetarian because we also have to think in all the people that live from their cows, sheep, etc. and what would they live from if everybody became vegetarian.
ReplyDeleteAndrés Millån
I do not agree your final conclusion of being impossible to like animals if you eat them. You can like animals more than vegetarians while you're eating them, for example a vet is always saving animal lives and he can eat meat perfectly. I think that an animal lover is not a vegetarian that lives in Madrid and has not seen a cow like we can see in Valonsadero.
ReplyDeleteIn relation to the vegetarians diet it is true that you can have a balanced diet by organizing it well as you have said in the blog, but it is more difficult to have it than a diet of someone who eats meat and every type of food.
In my opinion it does have to do with being an animal lover as it’s a bit hypocrite to kill and eat something you “love”, by the way, I don’t really understand the fact of seeing cows in valonsadero to love an animal.
DeleteI think that this sounds sort of contradictory... it's obvious that everyone is free to do whatever they want to do but I really wonder if being a vet in the case that Marcos has mentioned is a consequence of the need of a job and the need of the money (?) Then in the case that a vet had to cure a cow, would they do it for the love they have with animals or would they do it because they want to eat a "good and proper" cow?

ReplyDeleteI am very agree with lots of the things that you say, but one thing that I don't really know, is that for example if a person that makes a lot of sport can be vegetarian for the lack of some esencial nutrients that our body needs, they can be remplaced by artificial ones as you say, but they are as good as the ones that you get from eating animals?
ReplyDeleteI think that's a good point and good question then well be waiting for the answer
DeleteI agree with most that it's said in this post. I think that we aren't aware of the huge quantity of animals that we kill every year in orden to obtain their meat. I also agree with the part saying that being vegetarian is cheap because vegetables are much cheaper compared with meat. However, I don't totally agree with the part that says that by being vegetarian you can have a healthy diet, because I think that the correct and healthy diet is that one which has all tipes of nutrients. And vegetarian people can have a lack of proteins that would cause them further health problems. That is why I think that we must eat everything but always in the correct amounts.

I think like you in some of the points that you have said in the post, I think that you can not have the same proteins without eating meat that eating it. In would like to try for one week the vegetarian diet but I think that for me that is imposible. But on the other hand I also think that meat is important in our diet as the grass is important for the cows. And there are some theories that say that vegetables also suffer because they are also living things. It is also true that animals are bad treated in the factories.

DeleteI think that every single living thing, starting with a cell, '''suffer''' when they die. However in the case of the plants I guess that they don't suffer as much as animals as they don't own a nervous system
DeleteI'm agree in some points of view because the animals are also living things and we can't make them suffer. But there are some nutriets that plants can't give us and for young children it's essencial to have a complete diet of vegetables and meat for their own development.
ReplyDeleteI think that we can reduce our amount of production of meat but in some cases the meat is essencial.

I´m mostly in agreement with this post and nowadays people is becoming more vegetarians so it is good for mantain a saludable health as you have said in your post. Although I thinkn that not being vegetarian doesn´t mean you don´t like animals. You can love them although you like meat. Not being vegetarian doesn´t mean like killing animals.

i think that live in a city like Soria is not a disadvantage because we have a lot of country side and we can find a lot of veggies. And if you need an special supplement of proteins nowadays you can buy them with the internet and they can come directly to your house.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I´m LucĂa JimĂ©nez
i thimk that live in Soria is not a disadvantage beacause we have a lot of country side and we can buy all types of veggies. And if you need a supplement of proteins nowadays we can buy them by internet and you receive them in your own house.
ReplyDeleteP.s. i´m lucĂa jimĂ©nez
I am sure that taking a vegetarian life is the best from to maintain healthy a body, because nowadays mostly all meat and fish had a lot of chemical products inside harmfull to our body, we all should eat organic food but that it is mostly impossible. Becoming vegetarian is not the problem, the problem is maintain it, Irecomend you to taste the vegerarian hamburgers of Mercadona´s supermarquet are quite delicious.
ReplyDeleteVegetarian diets are something that always I thought about I can not come to a stable conclusion. On the one hand I am in totally agree with some things that you say in the post however not in all. I really think that in Soria if you want you can have a complete vegetarian diet without problems, it is true that if we think of places to go to eat as restaurants you would not have as many options as in Madrid but we have to take into account that Madrid is much much bigger than Soria. In addittion I have meet some vegetarian people that make sport many times a week and they need suplemets because they don't recive in their diet enough vitamins so, a vegetarian diet doesn't always give you all the vitamins you need, of couse this depends in what you and your body need.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion having a vegetarian lifestyle is very healthy. Moreover nowadays most of meet is ultra processed and that is harmful for our health.
ReplyDeleteI would like to be vegetarian but I think that it is very difficult. Finally, I totally agree that sometimes for vegetarian people it is difficult to keep up with a balance diet because some products are expensive or you can’t find them easily.
I think this post should be spread to reach more people. Apart from being vegetarian or not, I think the fact of buying cruelty free products is very important and we all should do it. That way, animals won't suffer and the enterprises that treat them bad wouldn't rise money.
ReplyDeleteI agree on many things with this article, however I also disagree with many other things, but I respect all kinds of opinions.
ReplyDeleteFor example:I think that is necesary to eat meet, however,I also think there are many industries that don´t have animals in good condition and they should do something to prevent this.

As a vegetarian I'm completely agree with this post. I have been a vegetarian for almost two years and I can swear to you, that now I'm healthier than I was before. I'm very agree with saying that is very difficult becoming a vegetarian in such a small city as Soria, in the way you have not so much choices at the hour of eating different things when you go to a restaurant; However I'm seeing new things out there when I go to restaurants or supermarkets.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion everyone should, at least, to try it, because once you are insde it, it is not as difficult as people think. I think, this is a great choice for helping animals too and end with animal suffering.
For ending with this, I wanna encourage everyone who reads this, to try becoming vegetarian and discover the pros and cons theirselves.
